XavierMy name is Xavier and I’m an aspiring weekend web developer. I’m not currently involved in a lot of programming projects, nor am I a complete computer geek who looks down at those who can’t ‘code’. I’m just a very curious individual who enjoys finding out how things work and how society interacts with the tools it’s given. I believe web development is a very important step in the maturation of our global society, and the strides we make now are going to affect future generations quite significantly.

A little background on myself: I’m in my mid-twenties and living in Kentucky. I’m currently pursuing my MBA after [finally] graduating with a BS in Economics from the University of Kentucky. I’m also working as a systems administrator for a government agency to pay the bills. I’ve been interested in science and technology since I was old enough to read, and probably should have gotten my degree in engineering… but that’s another story.

I started this site mainly to act as a resource for myself as I work and chronicle my efforts to become a decent web developer. The web site will act as a repository of information, articles, files, and discussion regarding web development and it’s associated technologies. I am not a proponent of open source over proprietary software or vice versa, so you won’t get a lot of Linux fanboy rants on the blog either. But if a technology is useful [especially to budding developers like myself] and has a place here, I will have no problem recommending it.

Ideally, I would like this blog to grow and start getting content from outside contributors. So if you are interested, and just have a desire to share some of your own information or experiences regarding web development, please contact me at xavier@xavodim.com..
